Fast Lane Machine Stampede questions.

So I'm looking at getting a couple FLM Stampede chassis setups.

I have the following questions:

1. I know the extended arms make it so you have to use the stock plastic sliders for axels. How well does this work? I've seen that these may need to be replaced every few runs, especially on brushless.

2. Do the standard length arms accomodate normal backspacing on the wheels or do they require that you use the goofy Traxxas wheels to keep the front and the back on the same line?

3. Does the FLM transmission case have a cover that fits it? Or is the thought that you just run the gears exposed. Like with Gorilla Max stuff.

4. I've heard a rumor of prototype cvd's for the exteneded FLM arms over on the RCBro's forum. Anyone else know more about these?

5. I see that there is a steel diff available and with the alluminum idler for the tranny, my questions is how does it hold up with the plastic top gear? Or should the steel top gear be left in and the whole works greased to bejesus and back?

6. With the extended chassis kit, (lenght) what bodies are available to fit?

Thanks in advance.

1. Stock plastic sliders w/ a steel output yoke from traxxas will work great I prefer the stock sliders over CVDs honestly.

2. Yeah, you still have to run a wider offset front rims and narrower offset in the rear, dont know about the extended tho. I actually used Nitro rush front arms on mine to even it up w/ the rear, yes there plastic but there damn strong so far. I use front rims all around and it is pretty wide too

3. Im not sure on a tranny cover, but from the looks of the tranny, it looks like it can.

4. No not me, I heard about them tho.

5. Just run the steel top gear, that "interference" problem that you heard is BS. Just grease them up good, if you were to run a plastic top gear, thats the gear youd be constantly stripping.

6. Maxx size bodies fit perfect.

5. Technically the optional top gear for the tranny is delrin, which is a much tougher material than standard nylon. I've got it in my tranny and have not had any problems with on a 540 8S motor.

6. Maxx sized bodies do fit the wheelbase nicely. I should have pics up soon after I get my Atomik F350 body mounted on my extended FLM Pede.

Thanks all!
I'll be getting this together in about a month, then I'll get pics up here.
Cheers!

I have the prototype CVD's and can take a picture if you wish. Although they are to long. not sure why as Jamie thinkgs i'm crazy lol. But I've tried 3 sets just to make sure I had them lol and I've tride stock and RPM carriers. dunno....

But yes I've has luck with the steel output and stock yokes.

My stock plastic yokes and sliders still haven't broken on my 57 mph pede. :D

BL_WidePede 07.25.2006 01:22 AM

In some sort of freak accident when I punched the throttle of my 7700kv motor on 6 cells in my pede when it was off the ground it snapped the output yoke. Oh well, I work at a hobby store so part's are cheap as hell.

I love the stock sliders, and before I went brushless I actually broke my cvd's on a 15turn fantom motor.

My cvd's slowed my truck down, so i run sliders. they handle all the power i've been able to put on it

I run the dogbone conversion in my Rustler, and haven't had any problems with it handling the power. However, after a while the dogbone cups (axle and diff output ends) to end up with notches in them. This is with a Feigao 540 12s (3000 kv) and a Mamba Max 4600 motor, both on 4s Lipo.

Sliders VS CVD

I'm running the stock sliders and I keep ripping out metal axel shaft from the plastic housing.
Beyond that the sliders seem strong enough for a Novak 5.5 with the fastlane machine extended setup.

Extended arms and chassis.

Hit 40mph with my kid driving. Stock sliders.

Woo hoo!
