g2r revo chassis
 

this is a question to all of you that have used this chassis. should i scrap the revo chassis and trans and go for the ultimate set up? i would like to race this truck and it is probably much more durable and balanced right, any pros and cons (price) im missing?thanks for your help

The Pro's are nearly endless. Better CG, little modding required, easy to work on, etc.

Cons would be less ground clearance and price...but thats about it.

I absolutely love my G2R...

I don't own a G2R, but my semi-stock chassis (non-3.3 extended chassis) works well for bashing and protecting the batteries. It is a higher CG, but a low GC isn't always best. And for me, I wouldn't be able to spend $280+ on a chassis (I've probably spent $10 on mine).

I have one and BP is right, its the hot setup for racing, But one con he didn't mention was it may be hard to mount electronics due to the laydown shocks. here's how i mounted mine, reciever on the opposite side to the steering servo, Esc on a custom plate mounted to the motor mount.

thanks for the great input, i may try the revo chassis for a while, still need to get batts and charger, i plan on running a hvmaxx 4.5 and after the sliperentual(?) comes out for the g2r ill get both

Instead of the novak id reccomend a 7xl or 8xl on a 9920 w/UBEC for way more power than the novak 4.5, it will also run cooler.

if you're racing, the 9XL might be better

Yea, and even though it has less winds, you could always gear up to compensate.

well, you don't need speed to win and the 9XL might be easier than the 7 or 8XL on batteries

thanks i just took a look at the 9xl and the 9920 with the ubec its cheaper than the novak, my question is how easy is this to set up speed controler, and ill probably run 12 -14 cells till i can get lipo, also is the duratrax ice a good bang for your buck charger? looks to do all i would need. thanks for your help

They're not too bad, if you can solder good. 12 to 14 cells will give you a little faster than the titans for the given cell counts, Lipo's are the deal for high-powered setups, but if you don't know much about them, do a lot of reading beforegetting them, Knowledge is power. For gearing, try a 18 to 20/66 (32 pitch) or 16/51 Mod-1 (recomendation: Save your money and buy a strobe and go Mod-1) not even the robinson slipper can hold the power of the XL motors, it did ok on NIMH cells, but not on LIPO.

The duratrax ICE is a good charger and can charge you're LIPO's when you get there, don't forget the balancer.

The only problem with the ICE in this case is that it can only charge up to 10 cells. I have heard of people tricking the ICE into charging up to 12 cells, though (by altering the peak sensitivity).

If he's running 6 or 7 cell packs, it won't be a problem. I know he has only one charger, but if he charges all his packs before going to the races, he can repeak them before using them

I dont even re-peak before I run. I just charge the packs the night before and they run fine (my GP3700's).
