Where/how to mount controller and UBEC???
Okay, so I just bought a Neu 1515 1y/f motor and the MGM 160/16 controller and the UBEC. I have the stock E-Maxx chassis. Can someone step in and describe to me where to mount the controller and the UBEC? I want the install to be as clean as possible, but I am at a loss.
Also, since I have the UBEC, I need to disable the MGM's built in UBEC. Is that done by simply cutting the red wire on the servo connector? I appreciate all the help. Mike Cronin has been an AMAZING tutor, but I feel like I need to stop relying on him and start reaching out to the community. Any help is GREATLY appreciated! Thanks, Jonathan |
The Neu motors are bigger in diameter than a typical XL motor, so you will be limited to how close you can get to the spur if using the stock emaxx Micky Mouse ears. If the motor fins get in the way, you can grind them down a bit but some people don't like to grind anything their brand new Neu motor. Can't say I blame them really, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do...
Do you mean you want to know where to mount the ESC? Or really the UBEC? The UBEC can be mounted anywhere there is room. It's small so it shouldn't be too difficult. You can make a simple bracket and ziptie it there. The ESC is usually mounted where the other Titan would go on some type of long L bracket. You don't need to cut the red wire. Simply remove the red wire from the servo plug, fold the wire over and heatshrink the loose connector to the rest of the cable. That way, you can put it back to stock if you need to. EDIT: Oh, and welcome to the forums! :) |
Thank you for the warm welcome! It's good to be here and learning about all the things that can be done with the EMaxx.
Do you happen to have any good clear pics of how I should set it up? |
Unfortunately, the only pics I can find at the moment are a few kinda crappy ones from my first Revo conversion. It used the emaxx tranny, so maybe it'll help you out a a little until someone else with better pics comes along.
