Motor Life?
Just wonndering, do brushless motors lose there magnetism over time? I know if you over heat them, they will lose their magnetism. But what about motors that are kept within specs, do they still lose their magnetism, just at a slower rate and over a longer period? And if they do lose magnetism how long do motors normally last? Is there a difference between highend (Neu) and bargin motors (Feigao) regarding how long they will produce acceptable power?

I'm sure they do eventually lose some, but not sure how much. There are many brushless motors out there in your everyday appliances (washers, A/C units, etc), not to mention industrial applications, and it's not uncommon to have those running much more frequently for years. Of course, those motors aren't subjected to the intense sudden loads R/C BL is, but still. I would think that as long as the bearings are replaced and the motor isn't overheated, you should be able to get several years of life.
BTW: Not only heat makes magnets lose their power, but vibration as well... |
