Are the following pics of the same tires?

I'd like to get komodo's on my truck, from Mike...but in the rc-monster pic the tires don't look low profile.

thx!

The picture on the site is actually a stadium truck version of the komodo. There is only one maxx sized komodo tire, and this is what I carry. Sorry if the picture mislead you(didn't have a maxx komodo picture handy). You can see the maxx komodo tires mounted on my extended pede in this thread: http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/show...p?threadid=122

I just got my komodo's but how on earth do you guys get that foam in... It must be a pita to get them glued? use tie wraps to tighten in down ?

I thought about using other foams, because the tires get sooooo hard this way..

RC-Monster Mike 07.31.2005 09:12 AM

Gluing the komodos is a pita for sure. Stuffing the foam inside does take some persistance as well!

rc4x4nut 07.31.2005 11:06 AM

When I cut my foams in fact its almost down to nothing by the time I got done. I also used that rubberband trick around the bead.

Serum 07.31.2005 11:37 AM

you mean you make your foams for the komodo's thinner rc4?

rc4x4nut 07.31.2005 11:44 AM

Width wise I cut it to about half the size then I also tried cutting depth wise also. It came out pretty good. It did take a while to get done.

Okay, so i am not the only one who thought the tires where too hard when you use the entire foam.. I think i will go to a shop here, he has got the ability to cut foam really good.. (he makes custom carseats

They were a big pain to work with if you try to use the entire foam.

when using Komodo's, do people usually gear up?

RC-Monster Mike 07.31.2005 10:51 PM

Definately gear up. the light weight and smaller diameter really allow (require) you to gear up a bit. Welcome to the forums, by the way!

nitrostarter 08.01.2005 01:33 PM

Thanks for the welcome.

I was looking into getting a set for my Race Maxx. I use BowTies on RPM Stablemaxx's now with stock Tittans/EVX for now. How much do people usually gear up?

I'm getting a set of UE diffs in this weeks, and I just ordered a pair 22T pinions along with a FLM rear bulk from Mike. If I'm geared 22/66 with Bowties and UE diffs, what should I gear with the Komodo's??

RC-Monster Mike 08.01.2005 06:05 PM

I could have supplied the UE diffs as well, nitrostarter! I guess if you are geared that high already, you have to go to the 54 tooth spur gear to get any taller.

nitrostarter 08.01.2005 08:59 PM

What else can you get and why this inst on the website? Man, I didnt know you could get them. I would have gave you the money rather than the guy I got them through. But one reason I went my route is because I've heard horror stories of putting them together. I get aggrivated easily when things arent WAM BAM and lets go. The diffs I bought were used for about .5 gal.

Anyways, I was looking into getting the Strobe slipper setup if I have to gear lower with the Komodo's. Thing is, $12 per pinion vs. $3.50 per pinion when I'm only going to need one of them when I go BL.

What pinion should I run with the 54T spur and Komodo's? And do you have that spur?
