I would personally not do the option where the motor is over the batteries. I did this in my conversion due to space. The problem is the heat of the motor will cook your batteries and vise versa.

I do run an MM with an 8L in my e-maxx. No problems with the MM, but the 8L gets REALLY hot. Next step for me is the 7XL.

I used an UE 6 spider diff in my 1/5, and it eats throught it about 8-10 hours of run time (rear diffs so far, twice).
I have FG catalogues and can get you wheel base measurements...
