They inevitably get flaming arrows shot at them for stating such an atrosity, since "everyone knows the HV is slow". I would have to guess that there are in fact more HV systems in MT's than any other one product, and yet you see so little posted about actual problems with them (very little here, a few more over on the Traxxas board). The only place you can use more power is on long straighter runs - on a track, anything more than an HV is wasted power to the general brushless driver. I am struggling with getting my Revo (and the driver!) to be able to use the power it has.
Well, not to point out the obvious, but most MT owners do not race, so almost all of those HV systems are hanging out in bashers...

In a mostly stock emaxx with the recommended gearing I am sure that the HV is fine. Keep the weight down and the gearing conservative and it will perform as advertised. But that is it, you buy it and install it and that is the end of the HV. No programability, or upgradability. Plus it is a bit pricy considering the competition. A MM is much cheaper, can run a variety of motors, and has full adjustability. Personally, I have enough driving under my belt that a vehicle that does less than 35mph is boring, and I have most of my collection geared for 45mph now.

For an entry level bl system the HV is fine, and it is a viable alternative for a race bl setup in an 1/8 buggy, especially considering novak makes conversion kits for buggies. Still too expensive for what you get, IMO...
