Brian.. I agree 100% with you.. but you are not the average Hobbyist either.
You can;t place yourself next to the masses... and that goes for quite a few of the users here...

On the other hand.. I'd bet $$ you have more than one ESC as well.. and that would be to replace a failed unit.. to either repair yourself.. or have repaired. it's not about throwing ALL your expendable money at a hobby.. but enough to enjoy it and not be disappointed at a race, track, or just out Bashing.
