nicely put. i agree, but that being said, when i buy something expensive i expect it to live up to the price tag. i travel for a living and have LIMETED space for my hobby(1 F8 pitbag). have never had a "spare" or second "backup speed controll" and never will. parts, yeah unavoidable, but i think people for the most part expect electronics to be flawless. nothing is flawless, but the demands we place on the equipment we use can definately cause things to fail prematurely. even if it is a hobby we are talking about some serios time, money, knowledge invested into these machines, all of which are NOT expendable in my book. it will be different from person to person but i think most of these problems can be avoided with some patience and help from other sources. i gues im just trying to say that we are for the most part we not your average hobby people, we race we destroy we fix, this is how it goes. dont let failures get the best of you. it happens to everyone, sucks but hey it could be worse right?

If you lack the desire to have a good look at what you are running, and attempt to understand it better that is fine with me. I see the fault in everything and do what I can to improve on it. That is why I posted pics and shared my insight.

Having an esc fail is almost a given. I would rather make sure that it will be failing due to component issues than due to poor wire routing.
If you want to buy a dozen MMMs and have 5 spares go for it. I am sure that CC loves you for that!! I have tons of equipment, and never go without a running r/c. I don't race, or really bash that much. I build stuff. And I mod almost everything. Not everyone is content to run stuff stock out of the box, maybe you are. Either way is fine by me.

couldnt be further from the truth. nothing is a given in this world and like ive said before in the past 15+ years the mmm is the ONLY esc that has ever failed in any of my cars. trust me i race hard and if it will break i break it. something like an esc with no real moving parts should last a LONG time when used within ratings. Poor wire routing, yes, but im more than happy to fix it for MYSELF regardless of what the manufacture thinks.

Rule #1: Unacceptable. Just because I can afford it doesn't mean I wish to throw all my disposable income at a hobby.
Rule #2: Again; unacceptable. In my experience, if mounted right, the more vulnerable parts are protected. The other more easily attainable stuff are acceptable casualties. I design (perhaps "over-engineer" is a better word) my setups to be built and run with little maintenance and with crashes in mind.
So, instead of throwing money at a problem, I would rather throw my intellect at it. But that's just me.

Some people lack the intellect, and money will not always cure that problem... I am right there with you Brian, and I also get some satisfaction from fixing potential problems...

I tend to over-engineer my stuff to just like what I did to Lutach's ESC on my gmaxx. I soldered additional caps and put a 3mm aluminum backing plate to prevent flex.
Castle Neu 1520 on 6S LiPo Powered Gmaxx (Nitro Killer)
Predator with OS .21TM
Supermaxx with Mach .26
Revo with OS .18TZ
Kyosho ST-RR Conversion
Ofna CR with Tekin ESC/Motor (2)

Better to fix a potential problem than have a damaged item. You may not need to do anything but time spent is usually not wasted. Plus after tinkering with something you generally end up with a better understanding of what is going on. Kind of like have sex with the lights on...
