if you glue the hex inside the wheel with proper glue, and the wheels and the hexes are of decent quality, you can't go wrong.

a pin spinning inside the hex? sounds like you use plastic hexes? use the largest pin as possible is my advice.

If you can't stand it, step up to dace/proline adaptors. (daces are my favorite) the prolines keep getting loose.

HPI got smart and introduced 17mm hexes...
