The problem could be about the connectors but it could also be about the
welding. Soldering the cables into the connectors and soldering cable to cable
is very different.
I also have to say you have to do 2 weldings for each cable with the
connectors, instead of just one if do not use it.

Do you often change the motor ? This is the only right reason to use
connectors. Any others are not techincal reasons :)
