Rustler gearing - 04.27.2008, 11:17 PM

I had the original 48 pitch gearing than I went to to the 32 pitch( jato spur) and thought that was a big improvement, I have since gone to MOD1, (Revo 40 tooth spur and 16 tooth pinion) and I like the gear geometry the best

With most vehicles mod 1 gears will be almost impossible to strip. Unless the mesh is way off. Some people have issues getting the mesh right...

I'm still with 48 pitch, but I run the CF HPI spur gears. Those things are nice and rigid so I don't get any flexing that I used to get with straight plastic spurs (made stuff strip when the gear would flex).

So far so good for me.

I've used just plastic 48p spurs on my Rusty for quite a while, and have stripped quite a few. This was mostly due to having my slipper set real tight (was using old style slipper), but now I've replaced it with a REVO style one and loosened it a good bit. I only have problems when I jump real hard and it moves the motor out of place.
I would like to put 32 or mod 1 pitch on it, just so I never have to worry about stripping, but I can't find a small 32p pinion or a large enough spur to keep my gearing right (running Mamba Max 5700 on 3s and 4s A123 cells, geared 15/90, pretty much the sweet spot for my Talon tires, 20/90 for my Road Rages).

Brijar!!!
