I bought a MM5700 motor about 2 weeks ago, ran 2 8cell nimh 3300 packs, I was geared a little high so temps were 170* and this happens, I threw out the receipt by accident and now CC says that they wont warranty it!!!!!
the only way that this could happen on an new motor is a manufacturing defect
I'm in the process of doing that, but it was at my LHS, and there not so good record keepers :(
well they should know you bought it recently and at least be able to get you a reciept with a date "close" to your purchase date. It would be a good move for them considering you chose to support them over someone on the internet. (which would have probably been cheaper for you and you'd would have a digital receipt saved on your computer)
CC motors aren't that bad, I ran my 5700 to nearly 80k RPMs and the rotor is still intact. Just a fluke accident that will be replaced for free if he can find the receipt. Otherwise, IIRC, it's $40 to have the motor fixed.
