thinking of making another rc - 01.17.2006, 05:59 AM

this time i wont to make a 1/10 scale 4wd truck to replace my rs4 mt when i cant find parts for it any more :( . but any way im thinking 2 stampede trannys on a custom chassie. im going to start from scratch with the trannys, i know you can make them tuff with the steel diff and aluminum idler but what about the other gear should i just go with a stock one? whats the stock one made of?

The stock top gear is steel. You can run the steel top gear with the aluminum idler. The steel diff and aluminum idler, along with the steel top gear, will bullet-proof the Pede tranny.
For even more strength, use a 32 pitch spur and pinion.

I ran an aluminum idler with steel top gear in my Pede with my MGM120/8s brushless set-up and it held up great. The idler shows no wear. I went through diffs like no other though.

If you want to do a 4x4 'Pede (which is what it sounds like), I did a write-up a while back on how to do it.
