So I see there are alot of people who like savvys here. Not my favorite but I have a few and want to finish up some projects.

What I would like to do is get some info laid out here. Not looking to get laid by Harold...

1st up is what vehicles come with what diffs?

I know the older savvys (21 and 25?) had diffs with only 2 spiders. Later models (X?) had 4 spider diffs stock.

What diffs do flux have? I think there was an upgrade to the bulletproof at some point, can someone clarify this?

Also, which diffs does the XL come with?

Mainly doing this to aid my search for parts, and use the chop shops on ebay for better deals as I could use other parts too.

Also would like to know what options I have for flux transmissions. Pretty sure I remember some sort of internal gear upgrade??

Any help would be greatly appreicated!

Also would like the strongest dog bones and drive cups. Want to stick with stock length arms, as that track width works with my 5t sized project.

I remember that the XL has stock arms, but uses spacers to get the extra track width. Is there an outer hub that can be used with the XL dogbones to not use the spacer? I also think HPI sold a "heavy duty" dogbone setup for the std X savage.

flux and XL have always shared the same diffs. at first it was the HD diffs and then they were both upgraded to the BP diffs about a yr ago. savage 21 and 25 had the same diffs, but im not sure what diffs the X came with.

The strongest dogbones come on the flux and XL. Do not buy the chrome HD dogbones or cups from the savage SS kits as they are just weak garbage. Ok, so now I am at the rear hub carriers. I like the fixed design, and looks like integy is my best bet. Seeing that the difference in the flux and xl are the dogbone lengths, I guess I should order the integy rear carrier for savvy x, not xl?

Which dogbone should I go with? Any benefit running the xl length ones? I am guessing I will have to run xl carriers/hubs if I go with xl shafts?

Why did they make the xl shafts longer? Thought they used hub extenders to get the extra width?

Better to just stick with flux parts? I have a bunch of savvy X suspension parts, guessing those will be compatible with the flux axles, etc.

Correction, the flux and xl dogbones are the same, so are the diff outdrives. Difference is in the outer wheel axle, the xl is longer to accomodate the spacers.

So I will stick to the flux wheels axles, BP diffs with the hd outdrives from either a flux or xl and the HD dogbones.

Now can anyone tell me what if any difference there is with the hub carrier and hubs? Both the xl and flux are marketed with improved, stronger parts, but does that apply to both the hub and carrier? I only ask as I have quite a few X hubs and carriers that I can use.

Also guessing all of the lower arms are the same, as I have a bunch of those too.

Ok, according the online nmanuals on HPI the hubs and carrier s are the same between the flux and X, p/n 85048. Sems to contradict with what the features page says:

"The Savage Flux HP features the uprights designed for the larger tires and weight of the Savage XL, giving you the assurance that you'll be able to deal out the same abuse that all the other nitro-powered Savage trucks can handle! Beefy parts mean the Savage Flux HP can take the abuse and punishment of extreme off-road driving."

Just checked the XL manual and it shows p/n 85048 as well. So I already have those parts.

Now I wonder why integy sells 2 different rear hubs for the X and XL?

I bought both... I have one truck that I have stretched out to a 15" WB. Since there is no difference in the hubs between the flux, X and XL they must be able to be used on all of them...

as far as i know the only parts different between the x and the flux/XL are the dogbones, cups, diffs, and the flux has bulkheads that are all their own, they are just made out of a stronger, less flexible plastic. Im not sure where you got the idea that the hubs and carriers are different? That is news to me if its true.
EDIT: maybe its because the flux and XL have bigger diameter axles? 8mm on flux/XL vs whatever the X has?

See the above quote, I guess they mean the hub when they say "uprights"???

According to the manual the X uses the same bearings that the flux and xl use, so the axle is the same size... The X does use the shiny axles, dogbones and diff outdrives and those are not that strong...

I do not think there is any difference, the arms, hubs and carriers are all the same part numbers.

All the uprights, hubs, arms, etc. are the same between the X, XL and Flux. Only differences are that the XL and Flux both use the HD axles and dogbones; XL has wider axles than the Flux, about .5" wider. Because of the HD dogbones, the XL/Flux also use different cups than the X for the diffs.

As to the two Integy parts, I think the first one is an older part with the second one being a newer part. I've been running the second one with mine, using the X SS's adjustable upper a-arm.

I had a feeling the 2 integy rear hubs were the same, I have both coming now so oh well!!! Also found a set of atomic rear hubs in the savvy parts box. So I guess I will build 3 savvy trucks...

Will have to buy a bunch of parts to do that.

Honestly I don't know what they are now. I do know they had the non-BP bulletproof diffs, which the manual shows.

According to HPI US the XL has the bulletproof diffs... I just ordered 1 xl bulk and the ad said it has the 9/29 gearing...

I will give the rear hubs a try and see which I prefer. IIRC the atomic were the best, next to the HPI ones that came with the expensive suspension kit.

Ok, so what are the best center drive cups to use? I have a few of the silver ones from the X SS kits, and I appear to have some black ones too, possibly came with the xl center dogbones i bought a while back.

Seems like the black parts are superior to the silver ones... Anyone know for sure?
