Few questions on E-Revo Conversion - 12.04.2007, 03:37 PM

What do you guys think about the Tekno conversion kit. Opinions pls.

Are there any big difference between the 8xl and 9xl motor?

If I use the Tekno kit, do I need to change any gear ratio or use the stock clutch bell.

Do I need to lock the 2nd speed? What other mods do I need to do?

The 8xl will run hotter - 9XL on 4s is a good balance IMO...

I don't have the tekno kit so can't comment on the other bits - Best of luck with the build...

You can stick with the same gearing you used on the Revo with the same trans. That is what it was designed for. However with the extra power/torque of BL you may want to gear it a little taller. Yes you can and will be using the stock clutchbell. No you do not need to lock 2nd if you want to have a 2 speed trans. I have the Tekno kit and think it is great. I am also going to be using the stock Revo 2 speed trans. I do however have the FOC (forward only control) installed in it. I am also going to be running 16/36 gearing to start and then try a 18/36.

I' running the FOC locked into 2nd with a 9XL and 4s. Current gearing is 20/38 and it's pretty quick. I just ordered a 24/38 setup for more speed.

I think something around 22/38 would be just about right. I'm running around a cul-de-sac on concrete with max size tires so I need taller gearing than most probably.

I must admit the Revo 3.3 chassis is in another league compared to the Emaxx chassis I just took apart.

Mine:
2007 Grizzly 700 EPS EFI

Sons:
BL E-Maxx
4S MA 4000 Lipo/MM ESC
Feigao 9XL 22/54 gearing
Gmaxx single speed

Brushless Revo under construction
