batteries batteries - 06.10.2008, 09:10 PM

ok say i was wanting to make 36volts in an electric motorcycle. I was wondering wether three 12volt car bateries would last longer than 30 nimhs with a 600 watt motor and a 36 amp controller. So Witch batteries would get me more miles and last longer. thanks

car batteries are so much more powerfull than nimh's if you consider a weak car battery will have over 350cca's

Anyone considered weight? 3 regular sized car batts would weight close to 60 lbs?!?!

I would go with a123 cells, at least 10 in series, and maybe 3-5 in parallel, so 30-50 cells total.

A123 wouldbe nice, However 50 cells is 500.00 You can get 3 deep cycles for 150.00 So like they say how much do you want to spend.

And with car batteries, you can apply a constant trickle charge without hurting them, whereas any Li chemistry wants to see at the very least a CC charge with a voltage limit - ideally, a CC charge ending with a CV "top-off".
