LST2 Brushless Conversion - 09.10.2008, 01:57 PM

Hi Guys!

I'm thinking about converting a Losi LST2 to Brushless, with the following setup:
- Losi LST2 1/8
- NEU 1521/1.5D 1900Kv
- Mamba Monster Max
- NeuEnergy 5S 5000mAh 30C Constant 60C Burst
- RC-Monster 2 Speed pinion adapter 5mm bore
- Acoms 2,4GHz
- Self-made motor mount

Will this work? Did I forget something?

Thanks!

I think that motor is too "hot" you should be looking at something sub 2000k for 5s... A 1521 1.5D 1900kv would be a better choice.

But I still want a bit speed, like 50 mph or something, do you think I will get 50 mph with the 1900kv and 5s?

I am running a 1500kv motor on 6s, and with 24/59 gearing it does 42mph. The 1900kv motor on 5s will spin faster, so 50mph should be attainable. Not sure if I would go much over 45mph with the stock tires though.

Ok, so I will get the 1900kv.

I was planning to get the next kv down from the 1900kv model for my lst to use on 6s lipo. I think it is around 1550kv. The 1521 neu looks to be the best bet for these heavier trucks, although I will say that the hacker c50 11xl is quite potent. I got a good deal on it used ($120), would never buy one new though, close to $400!!!!! Neu are the best bet for a high qual motor and their service is excellent! I may still buy the 1521 and use the hacker in my hyper st...

Or if castle bring out the 1518 size 1800kv motor soon I may give that a try...

Oops, idd, I will look..

Ok, he has a 45mm x 168mm battery tray, but that NEU battery is 45.5mm x 166mm. So he won't fit.. ( Maybe I'm stupid but L means Length, W means Width and T height? Or am I wrong? )

I'm still searching for a good battery tray..

The dimensions off the battery are:
T50 W45 L158
or, I can buy the other 5s from NEU that has these dimensions:
T44 W45.5 L166

Btw, will the 25C-50C 5s 4900mAh from NEU be also good enough for this setup?

THESE will work for the first batt you listed.

I have found the 25c Neu batts to be very good (I use 4300 and 4900).

Hmm just a question, bdebde said the Kyosho battery trays will be fine, but would the high of the LiPo not be a problem, it's 5 cm high?

And if I see this, the length is good, but the hight of the LiPo?

Finally, I bought a LST2 on eBay a few hours ago! :D

And I thought, and thought, and now I think the best setup for me would be:
- NEU 1521/1D 2900Kv
- NEU Energy 25C-50C 4900mAh 4s LiPo
- Mamba Monster Max
- RC-Monster 2 Speed pinion adapter 5mm bore
- Self made motor mount

So what about this?

Stick with 5 or 6s. I have found that my 4500 30c 6s lipos are close to maxed out with the hacker 11xl. I am not sure if the 1521 will draw less amps, really do not think it will. I would stick with the 4900 5s pack and a lower kv motor.
