Hobbywing 150a esc on 8s

Hi All, I'm waiting on my new hsp/redcat 1/5 scale brushless buggy to arive soon and was wondering if anyone has ever tryed to put a 150a hobbywing esc on 8s instead of the 6s max.
The buggy has a 980kv motor and the hobbywing 150a esc, I will get a caslte xl 8s esc soon but i was thinking of trying it.
I have put a 2 to 3s esc on 4s before with a 5s external bec and worked fine for ages with no problems.
I allready have 2 castle 1/8 monster systems but im not going to try that on them so im thinking of useing it as a ginny pig.
