Really? Maybe you should tell that to my HW ESC's. I have four Xerun 150A units that have been to hell and back. Only one had a fan die on it and it was two years old. Fan got clogged up with mud so only my self to blame there. I think they are the most robust ESCs in my collection easily. Short of ridiculously over gearing I think they are extremely hard to kill.
I love my Castle Monster Mambas as well, don't get me wrong, but I had couple that the BEC pack it in. Both on switching ON. Never had one actually go up in flames so can't whinge too much there. (Yet

Wont work. They have input over voltage protection. Anything over fully charged 6S pack and it will start to beep. Two quick beeps with one second pause in between. That is the case with the XERUN series of 1/8th ESCs but I am pretty sure it's the same with the EZRUN ones as well. Not sure which one you have although I wouldn't try with neither. If they could take it then everyone would be doing it.
Your best bet would be to fork out the money and get your self the Monster Mamba XL. You will have more current handling capability as well. Yes it's more money but no point doing things half assed. I run one of the first versions and it is still going strong.
