There is no one-piece spur gear solution, but there is another way. Mugen makes an adapter plate for their diffs that allow an Ofna spur gear like this one to mount onto the diff:

I think someone mentioned that the gear will need some modifications to fit. Unfortunately I cannot find the Mugen spur gear adapter part number, but it's out there.

The normal solution is a Kyosho plastic spur gear. That doesn't work because normal 1/8 diffs have a 6mm output shaft, but Mugen diffs use a 5mm output.

As long as you use a hardened pinion, there really isn't any problem running a steel spur with a steel pinion. Many of us have had great luck doing so.

I'm in the same boat as you. I think I'm just going to get a hardened pinion and keep the Mugen diff on mine.

What motor mount are you going to use?

Here is that part #MUGZMT008. This adapter is getting harder to find. Also, it takes some very minor dremeling in the holes of the Ofna spur gear to make the screws fit in the hole staight.

https://www.ssl-stormerhobbies.com/c...s&pn=MUGZMT008 Here is the adapter. They must be doing away with it. No one seems to have it in stock anymore. This with the Ofna 51t spur is a pretty good way to go.

FWIW, I'm might have found something else that will work... that's all I can say at this point, after failing last time I tried to get a special item like this. If I find anything I will definitely let you know.

I run an electric MBX5 that came with a hot bodies diff and uses the kyosho 46T spur. May be the easiest way to go.

The hardened pinions are good as they are, you can simple use those with the steel spurs.

You guys want a plastic spur? Or is everyone happy with the metal-on-metal?

Are the metal gears kinda noisy???

I tried to get a shop to make a plastic CRT.5 spur but they drove me nuts and I gave up. Maybe I should try again and get a Mugen too... lol
