Hi Guys,
The Diff Picture that Desmo posted is the results of running Truggy gears. 10 tooth pinion on a 43 tooth ring. 4.3:1 gear ratio sounded appealing with the 5.75" tires. BUT the fact that they are spiral cut, tended to side load the pinion bearing like a thrust bearing.
Those are Ceramic Nitride Bearings (the best) and they were destroyed on the very first run. Spiral cut gears won't work with this type of direct drive application.
I have had success with the 13/43 straight cut diff gears, but to compensate for the higher ratio, I suggest using a tire that is smaller than a 5.75".
Mine worked with the 5.75" tires, BUT starting amp draw was really high which cut runtime alot.
@Brushless Boy - The Turnigy motor looks good, but those others look huge and I don't see any specs on those.
Why don't you guys put together something like this? It's a AXI 4130.
It's 6mm motor shaft is actually a stock output shaft to a Revo Transmission. Just knock the hump off the center of the shaft and it's a direct fit. Makes like easier in the driveline department too.
Plan on using CVD's also. These Plastic ones won't hold up.
