Hydra 120 Braking Issue - 08.02.2008, 07:30 PM

I am having issues with setting up the brakes on my Hydra 120 ESC. I am running it in my e-maxx on 4s lipo with a 50-55 600kv outrunner in direct drive mode. When Im driving and I tap the brakes just enough to slow down it automatically flips into reverse right away without even giving the brakes a chance to kick in. I know its a boat esc but is their any way of fixing this issue. All I need is about 2-4 secs for braking before it kicks into reverse and Ill be fine. Is their anything that will help fix it such as the pi-stix adapter or does the castle link have a proportional braking setting? I really would liek to get this fixed. Thanks to all that help.

Boat braking is usually just enough to stop the prop moving, and then it switches to reverse. As long as the prop stops for a second, it is ok for it to go into reverse, as water does not "grip" the prop like the ground does to the tires. Sounds like you will have to go forward only with mech brakes...

I have setup a hydra with the castle link and do not remember a different brake setting. I suppose that you do not have a castle link?

Thanks for the help linc but I fried it today after a short run which is sort of a bummer. All the more excuse to send it in and get a new one back and resell it for retail and then buy a MMM.

Yes, I am 100% aware of that. To get it replaced it costs $105.
