do people bash 1/8th truggies buggies

i always hear of people racing 1/8th scale truggies/buggies but is it a good basher. i read they are more solid even compared to lighter jato style trucks? what do you all think
main question is this a low maintenance good off road basher

A b/truggy is about as solid a platform you're gonna get IMO. Plus, the way they're laid out makes it easy to work on should you need to replace a diff. The only downside is the sometimes reduced ground clearance due to the flat chassis.

The reason a buggy/truggy 1/8 in general is a good basher is because weight is spread out evenly and the parts are quite bulked up so its hard to break things. They are more fun to bash than 1/8 MT's in my opinion because they are so much easier to control.

I haven't experienced truggies, but buggies are definitely great bashers. And REALLY tough as well. I'll be posting a video shortly to demonstrate this.

isn't a truggy a buggy with bigger tires? and same a-arms front and back

Generally yes. Also they usually are a bit larger, have a wider stance, larger tires, more ground clearance, F/R diffs have a higher gear ratio, and the CD usually has a larger spur. The gearing changes are there mainly to compensate for the greater weight and larger tires.

The good thing about Jato-sized projects is that the power requirements are a lot lower, so you can get by quite well with 2s and 3s setups. Cost is lower too. Truggies are larger and heavier so they really need at LEAST 4s to run well, preferably 5s or 6s to keep currents down. My Jato is a squirrely little bugger, but it's tough as nails. The only thing I've broken is a rear shock tower, but that was because I was running with the body off and it caught on something. Cartwheels will do that.

Any brushless vehicle will wheely. They all will have the power, its just hitting the throttle enough and having enough traction. My 1/8 buggy can even wheely.

I want a muggy for a basher... I have a motor and speed controller jsut haven;t found my deal on a Muggy! Keeps the truggy style but in a monster truck way..

Truggies are buggies with bigger wheels/tires. I'm popping some truggy tires on my lx1 and i'll be racing it in the truggy class.

Just get a new erevo, slap some brushless power in it and go play. So far it is my favorite general purpose vehicle, handles well and jumps great. Plus it is cheap to fix and responds well to suspension adjustment.

I favor a MT over a buggy for bashing, as the added ground clearance and taller tires allow a MT to go just about anywhere. Buggies are only really good on the street and dirt. Or very low cut grass. Putting larger tires on a buggy requires quite a bit of re-gearing to get right....

ive been bashing with MT's ever since i started(tmaxx,emaxx) but when i had my first bl truggy all my MT's turned into shelf queens,truggies are more durable,easy to maintain and a lot easier to drive.only disadvantage is the lower ground clearance.hope this helps
