Can a Hacker C50XL Gearbox be removed?

There is a Hacker C50XL that I can buy, but it has a gearbox attached.

My question is, Can I remove this and have a regular motor for a Monster Truck?

Or is it a pain with parts required?

One would assume you could. Unless it were welded on. Got any pics of it? There must be some screws somewhere....

I have wondered that myself. Does hacker have a diagram of the motor with the gearbox? Are the shaft sizes the same, or does the gearbox motor have a larger shaft? Do hacker sell the gear box seperately?

It appears that the c50 gearbox models have a 6mm shaft. Otherwise the endbell still appearrs to be screwed on like the nongearbox models. Even if the screw pattern is different, it would not be difficult to drill and tap the front cover.

Hard to tell for sure from that small picture, but it looks like there may be screws through the front of the GB into the stock motor mounting holes. In which case the GB would come off easily. The main sun gear is probably pressed onto the motor shaft though.

No, I *think* that the exiting shaft from the gearbox is 6mm, while the actual motor shaft remains 5mm.

6mm shaft is for the input of the gearbox, thus it is the motor shaft diameter. Many motor mfgs do this with geared motors.

Also thse shafts are hardened steel, so no machining. You will be stuck with 6mm bore pinions...

Damn! Any other injuries? I hear that if you go to sleep with a concussion you can fall into a coma. Sounds like BS (baloney sausage, as my cross country coach says) but I don't know. I guess I'll take a "risk" and sleep, though. I'll be okay, but I'm really light-headed and it's kind of hard to type, so pardon my errors.

Screwed my lower and mid back, lost the first 8 years of my life, and damaged my bike!

You should be ok, what did you do to get a concussion...
