Question Neu 1512, 1.5d (3300Kv) on 4s in crt.5 - 10.21.2008, 10:17 PM

I want to make a killer bashing crt.5 and i have a Neu 1512, 1.5d, a MMM V3 on the way, and presently, i have a TP 5000, 3s, but i want to go with 4s.

Do you think that this motor will do the job just fine on 4s or should i stay with 3s and put a bigger pinion???

I know that this motor pull alot of amps (135A) so i consider that run it on 4s will lower the temps and give me longer run time???

But i have a Neu 1509, 2.5d (2700Kv) too, maybe i'am better to put this 1509 on 4s in the little crt.5 and keep the 1512 on 3s in my slash??

Don't know what to do

Thank you!

i think either will be fine - i'm not sure you will actually get that current as the motor is not going to be stressed in a crt.5.

My 3300 kv 50mm medusa runs fine on 2-4s...

That's exactly what i'am think.
The crt.5 is under 5 lbs i think so this motor will have less load than on a truggy.

Thank you!

I'm using a 1509 1.5Y in my CRT.5 and I can't keep the front wheels on the ground, I don't see any reason for a bigger motor.

That 1512/1.5d is going to be one beast of a motor in a crt.5 Its a beast in a 1/8 buggy on 4s. Edumakated had his 1/8 buggy up to almost 70 mph on the 1512/1.5D and 4s.

You might want to make sure you have planty of tires on hand when you run it. I suspect you will be blowing them off the rims with very little effort.

I can't decide if its more fun
to make it...
or break it...

i run the 1512 1.5D Neu on 4s in my losi 8 and the thing flies and i get 30 minute run times. i highly recommend this setup. in a crt.5 it will really fly cuz it will be a lot lighter than my bugggy.

I too think that is too much motor for the .5. I had a 3100kv little LMT 1920 on 4S that could do over 60, and barely keep the front down most of the way. See the Utube vid in my sig to see. I detuned to a 2200kv 50mm medusa and its still a wheelie monster if I load it enough.
That 1512 may be about undrivable in a .5.

I think that i will try my Neu 1512, 3300Kv on 3s and see the performance and run time. i have an eagle tree so i will be able to monitor the amps drawn by the motor, and if it pull too much amps and the run time is too short for my taste, i will order a 4s pack.

I have my 1509 2700Kv on 3s in my slash and this little motor put alot of power in the slash and i think that the crt.5 is about the same weight than a slash.
My slash is 6.1lbs now, with the FLM tranny case, Koolflight UBEC, badlands tires and LX one shock.

I think you really have to be insane to put a 1512 1.5D in a Crt .5, unless you are trying for the "fastest crt. .5." So I think you are better off with your 1509. It just doesn't make sense to take a car with a smaller footprint than a 1/10 st and have it be heavier and twice as powerful as a 1/10 st.
