Smile savage 21 BL Gearing ? w/ HV-MAXX 6.5 - 02.19.2009, 03:04 PM

Hi, I just got a hv-maxx 6.5 to put in my savage 21 and was thinking i should run 12/51 just wanted to get your opinions on gearing. the truck is stock just a x radio box, hs-645mg,rims, 25 springs, ect.. about 12-14lbs. I got a KD plate to mount it. oh yeah i'm running 12cell nimh.

I also have a 49t spur and a 13t & 14t pinions.

I would start with the lowest and see how it goes. Keep an eye on the temps of the esc motor and batteries and go for it.

Try 13/51 to start with. If everything runs cool like MTBikerTim says gear it up a little.

thanks for your input sounds like i'm on the track. I will start low and see how hot it gets. What kind of speeds do you think i will see (30-35mph?). Also what kind of battery holders do you guys use.(i have been looking at the flux ones)
