Lower EPA can lower motor temperature? - 08.18.2009, 09:13 AM

Hi, I m running a 1600kv medusa on 6s consuming about 200mah per min. Tempature about 60degrees

I have a spare 2000kv medusa if I use it on my 6s( I only have 6s)

can I lower my throttle EPA to slow it down & lower the motor temperature as well? Thx

no.

the only thing that will happen is that your ESC will get even hotter.

All esc's are most efficient(least heat) at full throttle- limiting them will make them heat up more.

The only thing lowering the EPA will do is make your truck slower.

Why not lower the gearing? Are you already geared down as low as you can and it's still too fast?

My gearing is 50/13 on my 1600kv my spare 2000kv will run 50/11 but still too hot about 80degrees within 11mins.

I was thinking how to use it if my 1600 breaks down during a race.

The other way is to use 4s.

it acually will make your motor run cooler because the rpms wont be out of control, about the esc getting hotter, i think thats bull, your not on full throttle very long anyway, i always lower my epa running 5s keeping the same gearing as when i run 4s and the speedo runs the same temp

Changing the gearing, would be your best bet.... I lower my EPA all the time.. it does make it warmer if your gearing is the same, and with a higher kv motor...
