First off, thank you for all of the sound advice thus far. My 1/16 E-Revo has made multiple 73mph runs with the current setup. I'm running a Neu 1112/2D, EZRUN 60A, on 4S. I have tried G3 VX 35C 1800mah packs and Zippy Flightmax 20C 2200mah packs, both yielded the same top speeds. I believe I am at terminal velocity, or very close to it, as adding another 100 feet of run space isn't making a difference. I am able to get the same max speed with 43/45 or 47/45 gearing. I've added some weight to the nose of the truck and it's quite controllable now. To be honest, I'm somewhat surprised that it did not go faster. So, now I need to decide what approach to take to go faster. It seems clear to me that I am running out of power. I'm considering upgrading to the 1115 motor and possibly moving up to 6S.
My question is this...is higher voltage always going to be faster, assuming you have a motor optimized for each voltage? Looking at the configurations Neu offers, how would you compare an 1115/2D (2600kv) on 6S to an 1115/1.5D (3500kv) on 4S or even an 1115/1D (5200kv) on 3S. With these combos, I could run the following battery configs: 6S-1600mah, 4S-2200mah, 3S-3200mah. The 3S would be a parallel setup and should have a very high current capability. I'm really looking for a max speed setup here. So, what's gonna bring me the big speed numbers?
