Here's a pic taken by Sleebus, of last Sunday TNT. After I blew up to 2 sets of foam tires, I decided to put on my tape belted speed hawgs on heavy beadlocks and see what it would do.
Here's the vid 'CLICK

Oh yes, observe the angle of the spinning (ballooning) tire, you will notice it does not have the proper... how do you say, "feng schway". I am going to have to concur with the statement that i needs more power.
More Power!

Man any more power and you'll be picking up bits of tyre from all over! That is a cool video- getting the power to the ground looks like the challenge. The dragster that takes off to the left of camera looks like it is an arrow from a bow!!! Thanks for the inspiration!

Hey Tash, have you figured out the second gear issue yet?

I used some nice foam tires on my BPP to do some speed runs. They held up ok. I'm not sure who makes them, but they are kind of like your usual dish wheel/foam combo. I bought them from a LHS who had them on sale.

i think so. i think the springs are too stiff. the split ring hasnt even made a mark inside the hub yet so i know i have gotten enough force to make 2nd gear grab. i ran my numbers today and got to thinking. since i'm running 8s1p, i'm probably putting a decent load on the batteries. we all know a123's like to drop voltage in 1s packs. so basically i'm spinning the motor around 30k right now if i'm dropping to 2.7v/cell. i went through everything and all seems right, except for the no shifting part. i think i'm going to just live with it stuck in first until i get the 12s1p running. i know i'll be putting some centrifical force on the clutch assembly then. if i don't get a shift at that point, i'll look at other options.

My problem is on takeoff mostly. There is where I blow tires. If I take off slower, I'm ok and keep a straight line(like in a speedrun), but then I loose the dragrace that way. Speedruns can take over 200-300ft, whereas in dragracing you only have 132ft to make your topend.

hahahhaha. Actually I have done that before and so have others when they started. Worthless to say the least. Foams are still the best, if you can keep them glued on.

I get tons of traction when I use some beat up spikes. Even my heavy BPP goes to its lid if I'm not too careful. Here you can see the tires that I have: http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/show...5&postcount=58. They were able to handle 4760W when I tried 10S just to see if the 1521 could handle the voltage. The truck was hooked up great on black top and launched like it had rockets hooked to it. I drew a nice little crowd at the parking lot, but it ended at around 9:50 when the diff couldn't handle anymore.
