Deans for battery to esc, and either 4mm bullets or hard wiring from the motor to esc. On higher power setups I like to hard wire, one less thing to go wrong.

Mention was made about cleaning deans connectors from time to time, any suggestions on how to do this?

I was wondering about this too. I use a little wire brush and simple green on the male end. To afraid to touch the female ones on the lipos though. Any suggestions?

I usually dab a little of this like "degreaser" stuff on a buffing head for my dremel and just buff the male connectors a little bit. Then, I plug them into my Lipos and because the male connector still has a bit of degreaser on it, it cleans the female end in about 5min or so. DO NOT HAVE THE ESC POWERED ON IF YOU DO THIS! Then, unplug the connector from the female end, repeat the process on the male end because all of the crap in the female end has gotten onto the male end if this has worked correctly and once your male connector is clean after that, your Deans should be all clean!

I use deans for battery-ESC connections and 5.5mm bullet plugs for motor-ESC connections.

If you're going to be pulling 100+ amps, some 5.5mm, 6.0mm, 6.5mm plugs would be awesome.... but my favourite are still Deans..

All of my Lipos use 6.0mm, and deans for all the NiMH batteries....

I use a combination of Deans/5.5mm bullets for battery to ESC and 5.5mm to the motor in my BPP. The others are just Deans on the batteries and 4mm and 3.5mm bullets on the motor.

Depends on the current. Deans for anything that's going to draw ~30A continuous/100+A peak. For higher currents, either direct solder or 5.5/6mm bullet connectors.

The bad thing about bullets is that they are harder to "key" to prevent misplugging. And even if you do alternate the male/female ends, the battery side connectors can accidentally short on something when disconnected.

Deans really should make a larger connector. Make it the same way, just a little heftier and a little longer to make it easier to grip.
