FSD brushless motor, erevo and monster clamp - 08.21.2008, 01:34 PM

So i decided to order one of these Chinese FSD 2770KV motors to play with to go with one of my MMM in the erevo while waiting for the castle/Neu.

The motor arrived a while back, its got a 5mm shaft and is 35.8x74mm.
it looks like it will bolt up to the stock erevo mount. that said i am concerned about the back plastic plate on the back of the motor.

will the monster rc clamp fit on this motor in the e-revo using the stock motor plate/mount.
I am using the stock 2 motor plate until the single comes out?

well i have run the motor in the e-revo, 4S, 20T pinion 68 spur and it seems to run very well. motor got to 150 and the MMM fan didnt turn on. I dont know how long it will last but seems for 48 bucks this is a player until we see castles motor.

i dont have high expectations as it only cost $48. im going to run on 4S and see what it can do. If heat and endbell pops were only issue then i figured the clamp would be good idea.

so when looking at the pull down options to buy the clamp it has one option of L that says it also supports XL $5 option, and another that says XL black and its $10 dollar option.
Whats the difference?

S = 50mm
L = 60mm
XL = 74mm <- you need

Black - is anodised black else it is just machined aluminum

You can make the L size clamp work on an XL size motor. You just have to get some longer screws for the back plate clamp. The heasink doesnt run the entire length of the motor if you use the L size clamp on the XL size motor.

I can't decide if its more fun
to make it...
or break it...

so for an XL motor the only option i have is the black XL clamp if i want it to run the full length and not have to buy xtra screws?

Welcome to RC-M, alangsam!

The RCM XL heatsink is very effective. You'll like it.
