KB45-17XL in a 1/5 FireHammer M/T - 07.05.2009, 08:05 PM

Hey Guys,
I know I started a thread about making a brushless firehammer M/T a few "Years" back.. I haven't started it, until yesterday. Yesterday, I was bored and thought, "What if I stick a KB45 in a 1/5th scale just for kicks". Well, I now have a firehammer M/T powered by 8S & 12S 25C 5000mAh Enerland Lipos. It ran decent for a $55 motor.. hahaha.. I'm sure the 2280 has enough balls to power this thing up. It looks a bit ugly, but I didn't have a big enough sheet of aluminum. All I had were Angled Aluminum which I had to cut one side off of it. I will have upload a video later. here are some Pictures.

I love the size of the 7th scale more so than even the 1/8 stuff. I am just skeptical about getting one for a couple of reasons...

1. durability
2. part support
3. cost of converting one to elect. ( bigger batts, motor, etc..)

your conversion look really good and look forward to your vid.

The firehammer is a clone of an FG, and most parts are interchangeable, so parts are out there. I can't speak for the firehammer, but my FG took some of the hardest hits I've seen. During a runaway, it hit a curb as tall as the truck dead on @ 30+, bounced up and over it without losing much speed, hit the wall that was 3ft behind it, then landed and stalled out. Nothing broke or even bent from that, or the other countless rollovers, cartwheels etc.

Cost, thats another story. Thats why I stretched my revo. Being 10lbs lighter, the cost of electronics will be lighter too. Still would love to do one though.

Aqwut, thanks for sharing your conversion and making vids for us too

You should have asked to pull that kid in the wagon around. That would have been fun.

Looks like 2WD is doing some spinning and tailing out?

Cory...

The motor is already stressed pulling around a 25lb truck, last thing it needs is 60lb extra on its tail...

The Truck is about 20Lbs... Feels lighter than it was with the Petrol Engine with Fuel in it...

Here it is on 12S1P 5000mAh PolyQuest XP 25C

And here's a Video on 12S

Looks like that kb has plenty of torque to push that truck around. What top speed are you geared for on 12s?

Some closer pics of the motor mount with the cover off would be nice too!!!

is it just me, or do I see a disc brake in the front wheel on that beast?

Runs better with 12S. If you've got a lower kv motor and an esc that could handle it, go 16S!

ZPB: Yep that looks like a disc brake.
