This project moved pretty fast. I saw this several months ago but was unsure of what it was about. Then last months RCDriver sealed the deal.

I would like to introduce you to...

The hardest thing to do was tear apart a brand new truck...but it brings back memories of the days we did it with crawlers before there were RTR, ARTR and Kits...

Having Savages in the past, I knew that they were easy to disassemble.

Removed the body, and tires...

You probably think that this is just a pile of screws...actually they are laid out where they belong on the chassis...makes it easier to replace them.

One side off. For those of you that never worked on a Savage. It is a Twin Vertical Plate (TVP) chassis. They are a dream to work on. They disassemble easily.

The details and accuracy of the 5mm chassis is amazing.

Conversion Kit goes together as fast as it was disassembled.




Add the bulkhead and windshield braces (Delrin)



And the 8 chassis supports.

It took me a total of 1.5 hours from start to finish.

Here it is mocked up with 5B Wheels and Tires.



Here it is with the stock tires (Waiting on adapters for the 5B Wheels)

If you haven't assembled it yet, get me a measurement on that shaft they included in the kit. Might need to buy one for my LST conversion.

Just built it last night.

Hope to be able to run it this weekend...but only have two 2s LiPo's so I don't think it will be a real test...

6s and a smaller pinion would be my choice. Gear for around 40mph on 6s and see how the motor does. Stock tires are not too heavy but I can imagine those 5t ones will add weight.

1.8 and 2.4lbs respectively.

I'm looking at 5S, as that is what I have for my truggy, running 47/17 (nitro conversion rather than Flux base) for ~40 on a 2200kV (for now).

Haven't yet run mine either, but I suspect that it'll run well in a straight line and turn like a dog due to the locked 50/50 split of the gearbox. I did do some shaving on the front uprights to get a tad more throw, but don't think it'll do much.

I picked up the Big Bore shocks and will set it up where it squats some. Hoping to get the chassis more level. With the weight and height of the Proline Trenchers, I am hoping that it may handle pretty good.

I switched to from the standard pink springs to the white springs (the spring the Flux and Big Bores use are the Hellfire springs) to start with due to the increased sprung weight.
