HoBao 17mm Big Bores

Anyone else run these? I know Bondo does... I just got a set in today for my Jammin X1. Pictures don't do these babies justice, they are massive! And I don't think you can find a better deal for a set of big bores.

Looking for some setup tips. I'm pretty much going to be bashing, maybe a little track time, but no serious racing. Use stock blue spring or white or grey? Use oil that was included (300wt, but I'm guessing it's 300cs?) or different? Bondo told me to get the alloy caps, so I'll need to order those and maybe another set of springs next time cash allows.

Hobao 300wt is 30wt in our speak.
On the Hyper 9E buggy the front caps are out in the open, aluminum will obvisously prove to be much more durable. The plastic caps didn't leak, I was just afraid to break them on a ugly landing so I went with and suggested aluminums.

I have Losi 8ight buggy shocks on my 4x4 Slashy and I like the shocks on my 9E better.

Blue is the softest, then White and Grey .

I use them on my hyper8 pro and they are great. Bondonutz is right the oil is 30wt..

Well I don't think that 30wt is going to cut it, did you guys use it? Probably going to try 45wt front and 40wt rear to start.

What are the shock lengths eye to eye???

Built the shocks last night. Used 45wt in the front and 40wt in the rear. Those little snap rings are a PITA, first thing I did today was order a proper snap ring tool so the next time I have to rebuild it should be a lot easier. The soft blue springs seem pretty firm actually, and I didn't need to preload them very much, which I was pleased with. Unfortunately still got a bit of work to do before the X1 is up and running, but should get to try it out pretty soon and see how the shocks perform.

Here's the big bores mounted on my X1. The lengths were just about the same as the stock shocks, but I needed to do a few things to get them to fit. The spots where the lower ends mount had to be shaved a little bit to allow the larger captured balls to fit. Also I needed to add a small spacer on the front shock standoff so the spring and upper a-arm had enough clearance. I'm starting to think now I should have maybe used the stock 30wt oil, but I'll have to see after I get the buggy running.

Whats going to keep the top of the shock from popping off the mount ?

The rear are held on with a nut and washer. The front standoff screws didn't stick out long enough because of the extra spacer I had to use, so that is just a temp setup until I get longer screws. Or I might just switch to using two shorter screws, one into each side of the standoff.

OK, Just checking. Wanted to make sure you knew there might be problem w/it as is.
