all nomadio owners -
07.19.2010, 04:58 PM
I'm still building my 5b http://rc-monster.com/forum/showthread.php?t=27203 I got a nomadio react with it. Anything I should know?
I want to use channels 3 and 4 independently for switches. Reading the manual shows how to slave either 3 or 4 to 1 or 2, and how to operate 3 or 4 assigned to a function and A switch, but not how to assign 3 and 4 to seperate switches independent of one another.
I want to use 3 to switch on and off NOS and 4 to switch on and off lights, but not at the same time.

I have the Sensor, but really haven't taken the time to look at the channel mixing features. Not sure how close the menu and features are between the two radios, I'll take a look at it though.
Personally I'm thinking of getting rid of my Sensor since Nomadio doesn't provide service/support anymore.

I never messed with the channel mixing. But I do like the react alot. Just nice to hook it up to your pc and mess/save your settings. The mini sr3500 rx work with it.

I'm pretty sure those are the only two.
Now that they are no longer supporting the radios they should release their firmware for people to modify, turn it into an open source project. The problem is that when dealing with the radio signals you have to worry about FCC regulations, and they probably can't have people just messing around trying to get the firmware to work with Futaba, Airtronics receivers, etc.

it's 2.4ghz, the fcc doesn't care about 2.4. all that would change is the way the signal communicates from the tx to rx, FHSS or DSSS
I believe losi recievers are spektrum compatible? That would make them also nomadio compatible...

Yes, the Losi MRX-3000 receiver is a rebadged SR300.
If there aren't any issues with the FCC and 2.4GHz then maybe it would be possible to work on an open source firmware for Nomadio radios. The PC interface is already there, it would mainly be a matter of finding enough people who use Nomadio radios and would want to work on modifying the software. Probably not enough people interested.

Hey Harold I don't believe it is a dead company. They truned all of their resources towards military applications when things were rampping up in Iraq for UAV opperations, and shut down the R/C division, because they just did not have enough manpower to keep things running from both sides. I;m sure it was a $$$$$$ decision. They really did not know what the future for their R/C division was at that time or if it would even be back, but I suspect that once things slow down on the military side as we withdraw our troops from the middle east that they may open things back up again and get back into R/C. Who knows?? I am hoping that they will some day come back with some newly learned inovations that will help our hobby. I have two Sensors and another one on the way. All in working condition and each with the aluminum steering post mod plus numerous sensor kits, and now I have like 8 receivers.

I have been searching far and wide for one of those alloy steering posts, know where to find one? Mine hasn't broke yet, but from what I've read it's only a matter of time.

The steering posts were actually produced by one of the Nomadio forum members, but as far as I know the Nomadio forum no longer exists. I can take a look and see if I have any other contact info for him, but I doubt that he has any more. Your best bet would be to remove your steering post and take it to a CNC shop with a request for an alloy copy reproduction. I have seen several people still asking about these, and you may be able to sell some if you wish. Are you still using your Sensor? Do you still have the latest software/firmware updates?

I still use the Sensor and have Spektrum receivers in all my vehicles. I picked up a FlySky GT3 to play around with, mostly for the cheap receivers and to have a backup for my Sensor (because of the steering post issue)
I tried to contact the Hand Bros when the Nomadio forums were still active, but never got a response. I would buy one of the posts if I came across it, but not too interested in trying to get one custom machined.
I have the latest software installed that still allows the use of Spektrum receivers.

Possible??? -

Is it possible to upload the software from the Sensor to your PC and then transfer it to a disc or thum drive? If so I would like to have a copy of the latest software/firmware for the Sensor on hand. I would be happy to send you a thumb drive to accomplish this task with return shipping paid for. I now have three Sensors. Then I could update my Sensors regardless of Nomadio's status right now.

You can still download the Sensor and React software/firmware from Nomadio, including the registration patch.
