Power Supply Needed - 09.21.2010, 02:36 PM

What power supply do i need to get the full potential of this charger http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail...S615DV3&cat=19 ? Also what is the max C rating that the charger above can charge at?

In user setup on the Duo3, you can specify 1C thru 5C charge rates. Then when you set up a lipo to charge, you'll have whatever C rate you specified in user setup.

Duo3 takes a 14.5+v input to be able to run at the maximum 360watts (180 x 2). See the manual, bottom of the 1st page where it lists "DC Input required for max watts output" for their current chargers. You need about 450watts to run it at max capability, but the 14.5+v input required is not typical for an RC oriented power supply.

Also if i wanted to do without a power supply and just use two 12v batteries in a series for a 24v pack, what kind of mA rating would i need to charge, say 6, 5000mah 5 or 6s lipos?

I hear a BOOM!!
and i see Smoke and Fire!!!!

without a "powersupply" or Charger how are you going to regulate the voltage PROPERLY to eatch cell to ballance them ?

you dont just dump power into the + and - on a lipo pack cause not all the cells will be the same
and if you have a weak cell say in the center of two the weaker cell will well you know .......
or if the two or one of the two outer cells are weaker well the same outcome.

Just Fix It !!!

Not sure on that particular model, but you may be able to tweak the output a bit for higher voltage. Given its weight, I assume it's a switching supply, so the methods to boost the output (if even possible) would be similar to any computer power supply.

Heres something to consider ?

http://www.feathermerchantrc.com/

I bought the 42A model and I can charge 2-4000mah 6s w/my Hyperion Duo AND my Venom Pro chargeing a 5000mah 4s and doesn't miss a beat or get warm.

EDIT ^ Aliens option maybe more viable and def cheaper.

I retired from RC, now life is all about guns and long range shooting.
