New Charger...Common Sense RC duo

Good to see an Imax charger with a decent power rating. The trend lately for Chinese chargers was just to strap 4 50W chargers together to charge multiple packs, I was thinking the next "innovation" would be to put 6 or 8 together. This looks like a step in a better direction.

I'd like to see battery packs start coming with 16-18GA balance wires and balance connectors rated for ~10A and just charge through the balance wires. Then, multi-channel chargers rated for 50w each would start to make more sense. Basically, a bunch of 1s chargers strung together...

There would be no more issues with improper cell count mistakes; the charger would simply activate the channel(s) with a cell attached. And there would be no more balancers to mess with.

Yeah, the pack would be a little heavier, but I can deal with that.

I have an indirect ear to Hyperion, it would be in interesting pitch and since they do both chargers and batteries it may be an easy place to start.

lol, I'm busy enough just messing with my calc site to do something like that. But, I have started working on a special type of LVC circuit so that people can use 3s/4s cells in radios along with a switching BEC while not worrying about the cells getting below ~3.4v/cell...

I have no ties with any manufacturer, so that would be a "no". Besides, all lipo packs would have to be built with the larger wires/connectors to make this work, and that would leave all existing packs unable to use this (small market).

Well, if you have their ear, let them know and see what they say. Another neat feature would be the ability to string several of these chargers together to create a 10s, 15s, 20s charger. That would mean that each output is electrically isolated (no shared grounds).
