e-bay jerk - 05.16.2011, 03:30 AM

some a-hole opened a "did not receive" dispute via pay-pal only 4 days after the close of the auction. This is the response I left for him on pay-pal:

Really? It clearly states in the auction that you should receive your item in 11-15 business days. To open a dispute before that is asinine. If you click on the shipping tab it states usually ships within 10 days of payment. Not immediately after as you assumed. Which makes you an ass. My funds for this sale are held until this is resolved. Thanks for the inconvenience dickwad. Not everybody is on the computer everyday to respond to e-mails from neurotic buyers. I sell once a week, and check my sales once a week. No more is necessary because I am an honest e-bayer as evidenced by my 374 100% positive feedback. I know I ship my items, with delivery confirmation so communication is unnecessary. In my 8+ years of e-baying you are the first douchebag to do this to me. I can't even fathom the thought process involved in initiating this dispute in 4 days. 4 DAYS!!! Did you want me to teleport your item from MN? That technology isn't available. You have a low feedback score. Perhaps you don't understand how e-bay works. I hope this note helps you to realize what an incredible dickhead move it was to open this dispute. The 1973 in your screen name makes me think you are 38. I am 32. I am ashamed of your incompetence and immaturity in this matter. Please refrain from ever bidding on any of my auctions ever again. Good day to you sir.

Customer Service 101

#87 - How to permanently severe customer relations... see above example. This is a sure fire method of dispatching your customer to a place from which they will never return to sully your business again. Please note, this method should only be used in the most extreme situations or when happening accross inexperienced eBay users who have validated their 'crap on me from a great height' card by asking stupid questions that put ones 'business' at risk of poor feedback

wow!!

That is an impressive paypal response.

I am just a bit concerned that the buyer may take the oppertunity to tarnish your ebay feedback.

Certainly it is sad that people have unrealistic expectations - a simple 'contact the seller' option via ebay would have been sufficient.

And here I thought you were such a delicate flower. I guess there is always 2 sides to the coin but it doesn't matter which side it lands on for you because we always get a kick out of your posts Harold

IDK for sure but I think ebay is inclined to side with the buyer but in this case I don't see how they can. I'm sure things will work out, I just hope it goes smoothly for you. Even if you have to send him the package at least you let him know what an ass he is.

If you have a delivery confirmation number (I do) pay-pal sides with the seller. I have no worries.

I hear you on eBay dicks expecting things ASAP. A guy won a pair of Savage diffs from me for 99 cents, received them a day later than I had quoted on my listing (stuff happens), and I got neutral feedback. Hell, I LOST money by listing the dang auction! Paypal and eBay will side with you on this one if you ship it out within the 10 business days you have on your listing. A buyer agrees to those conditions when purchasing an item from you, he's just being a dick. Glad you 'spoke your mind' to him.

There are a lot of buyers with unrealistic expectations from Sellers, nothing can be done about this unfortunately. Harold, I hope you didnt just give yourself a neg feedback from that azzhole with your witty and delicate response to his case opening.

IIRC a buyer who opens and then looses a dispute is unable to leave negative feedback...
Could be wrong though.

If I could only draw what I see in my head, then afford to build it, and finaly get to play with it...

Then there is the Ebay seller who claims to have 2 bodies in stock when all other sources are on back order. Order one only to receive a email about this item is over sold, wants me to wait. When questioned, he states, we keep our page that way to catch those who can wait. Did get a cancel and money back, but still, well, dishonest comes to mind. Guess that is why so many call it evil bay.

Because of no sale could not leave feedback.

ooh I hate that. I had a seller list 7 paint markers in stock, and they had none.

UPDATE: Pay-pal of course sided with me and unfroze the money. I sure hope they read what I wrote!

I run the eBay department for a fairly large computer company and I deal with the same thing every single day. With someone with a short fuse like me you can only imaging how I feel when things like this happen. You get the worst of the worst with eBay customers. Trust me, I have the same type of response you have just brewing in my mind. In the end I just bite my tongue and refrain from any type of negative reply. The only thing you get out of it is an angry customer who will leave a negative feedback. It's pathetic how people think and act behind an email. I should let you read all the "tough guy" emails we get from eBay buyers.

At the same time, I can see where the customer is coming from. Communication is key for customer service. I'm 99.9% sure that the buyer did not click on the shipping tab and read your shipping and handling times... especially if they are a new eBayer. Whether it be a $5 item or a $5000 item, no communication will make any buyer uneasy.

Either way, glad things worked out your way!
