Which 3S Lipo and charger - 06.15.2007, 08:04 AM

Okay folks. I am getting ready to order my Lipos. I do not have a lot of experience in that departmentment and would like your advice. There are two brands that I am currently evaluating, but if y'all know of something better, please let me know. The two types that I am considering:

Flightpower 3S 5000mah 125-amp continuous

or

MaxAmps 3S2P 8000mah 160-amp continuous

Any recommendations on a charger? I want something that can eventually handle 5S and 6S packs. Maybe the EOS 1210i. Right now I have the MRC 977, which can charge two 3S packs simultaneously.

With no doubts go with the FlightPower 5000mah 3s packs. You should get a good charger like the MRC 989( charges up to 8s) and the FlightPower balancer with a 5s hi-rate
V-Balance harness.

Factory built, prematched and prebalanced. Very durable during crashes and they hold much more voltage than any other lipos at high amp draw. Well priced, too.

Looks like my thread is dead in the water here....

Can anyone provide additionally opinions of what is the better 3S Lipo pack? Its not that I doubt the Captains good word....its just that I veiw opinions sorta like human intelligence (you know the U.S. Defense industry type-HUMINT). I prefer to base my purchases on multiple sources....

Thanks I assume you are using the 5800mah packs? Any problems with them getting hot with your Mamba Max ESC and 5700kv motor?

I am using the 3800's. They do get to about 120 with the 5700, but only a bit over 100 when running the 4600. Of course I have a heavy MT2 conversion (5lbs) with 4 wheel drive geared for about 55mph on the 5700 (45mph on 4600). The 5800's should run cooler since they have a higher capacity.
