6S Revo just showing off -Pics- - 01.26.2008, 01:45 AM

Just showing off my new e-revo to throw yet another motor/batt/esc combo I haven't seen before.

My specs:
6S 5000mah 22.2v 25C TP battery (Left over from my Trex 600) ~$290
Teckno Conversion kit ~$150
Feigao 9XL ~$80
Turnigy Sentilon 100A HV ESC 12s max (Can handle ~4500 watts) ~$100
E-revo beating the nitro guys on the track for 30mins straight...Priceless

Spektrum DX3R
JR 9100T steering
Castle 10 amp Regulator
FoC/Center Diff/Rear brake

Here are some pics of my build and completion:

The big pack

Ta da!!!

I am going to the track tomorrow..12:41am...okay today, i will try to get some video of it. Although, that center diff is way to loose with 100k oil in it. I have some 500k on order should be here tuesday or so and I will post some videos then.

Oh I should add, temps are about 5-15 degrees over ambient for the ESC and about 120-140 on the motor running in ~60 degrees indoor after a 20 min run.

All the Feigao XL motors come in black now as far as I know.

Great looking truck!! I would think that 6s would be a little much for the 9xl.... have fun at the track!!

I thought Mike has them in black now too.

That's one heck of a ride! a 9XL on 6S! that will be a peppy beast. I guess you can start to stock up drivetrain parts! you will be about the fastest on the track, i would keep an eye on the temps of that motor/speedo.

Looks good. Check that clutch bell/spur alignment. In the pictures it looks like there is a little misalignment. Could cause wear or stripping problems.

I'm interested to hear how you like the Tekno clutch setup and I'm looking forward to seeing the vid.

Nice clean job.

I can't decide if its more fun
to make it...
or break it...

Well ran at the track today, friend forgot the video camera. Had a bad day today, basically comes down to a co-worker broke my battery and I am using a make shift battery for the time being.

The motor temp got a little high today. Hit about 160, I was beating on it pretty hard. I will definitly be putting a fan on the motor.

In the picture nothing was setup, just thrown together.

Your 9xl was 160 on a 6s?

How are the battery and esc temps? I read somewhere (see BrianG's sig) that if your batteries and esc are cool but motor is hot, then its likely your undergeard... do you have any bigger CB's to try?

Just realised your only running a 9XL, which means at 22.2v your revving it out past 40,000rpm! From what I've read this is revving too hard for a feigao motor - and could very well be the source of your overheating.

On another note, how is that ESC? Looking at the programming card available it only has "low" "middle" and "high" voltage cutoff points, do you know how many lipo cells these cut off points correspond to? I would hate to ruin a 6s pack by over discharging it, and this esc (which I was looking at buying) doesn't seem to have very useful lipo cutoff programming...

I am almost done with my Revo 3.3 and Spektrum 3.0 with a Tekno conversion and throttle linkage, JR 9100T Steering Servo, Hitec HS5645 brake servo RPM arms and knuckles. I also have the Sentilion OEMRC ESC, a 6s 3700 25C Lipo pack, also from United Hobbies. I'm using an Align 600 motor. As of now I haven't tried anything yet, but it's nice to read about someone using most of the same stuff running around happily. Please post a vid when you have a chance. I figured I may as well get all my HV stuff (batteries/lipo charger) and what I hope will work (cheap ESC) to use until the MMM is released.

The batt temp is low. I don't consider 160 degrees really THAT hot, throw on a fan it'll be fine. Once I get my center some thicker oil so I can get some traction I'll play around with the gearing. I highly doubt the clutch is slipping considering it's new, backwards, and has no spring.

pixtix?

You only would run past 40k rpm if your wide open, which is rare. Honestly if I break a $60 motor that just gives me a good excuse to get a Neu!

That ESC runs cool which I like, it has probably the worst programming/instructions I have ever seen. I tried to get one of those programming cards when I ordered it but it was out of stock. The cut-off low/medium/high refers to cut off being 2.6v/2.85v/3.1v times the amount of cells you have which it calculates for you. Default is medium which is 17.1v which is a little low for the recommended manufacturer cut-off of 3v (18v) per cell. Regardless you can tell when the lipo is dying. As soon as I notice this I quit. After a full run I'll throw about 4500mah back into the pack with about 20v before charge.
