I personally like the Revo tranny. Mechanical brakes, center diff w/ adjustable F/R brake bias, possibility to get all metal gears easily, auto 2 speed, great slipper, etc.

Yeah, kind of with you there. I do like how the new emaxx tranny fit in without much modding.

Is it just me or does the vxl sytem rmind you of the bk warrior and 9l combos of the past. Kind of in a "plug and play" sort of way. No programming or stuff like that, just aot of fun, and maybe heat!

Tis is a single speed or two speed?
And the metal top and idler, this is a good hardened steel?

But, the best of all will be to drop in an 1/8 scale bugg center diff in this stock revo frame. But i think it's not possible, because if it was possible, i'am sure that a guys here would did it.
Some things are better, but overall no the suspension of the revo is still far superior of a design and the bulk design included. Don't get me wrong the 3905 is a sweet MT, but it's still no revo. That is why I combined them :) Best of both worlds until Traxxas makes it themselves.. I would be VERY suprised if traxxas doesn't have a Brushless RTR revo out by xmas 08.

The new emaxx diff's are revo spec, but they are upgraded and better than the revo diff's (you can drop these in for upgrades to any revo). I will actually be swapping out the revo diff's as well, not sure if I noted that anywhere.

Your question looking at the stock revo 3.3 vs the stock emaxx 3906 tranny would be a good one.. because you have to upgrade it as well; alum idler 2nd gear mod or gorillamax mod. The nice part about it is you can have dual battery setups with the motors on center.. but I wouldn't change to a 3906 emaxx tranny, I would just mod the revo and use the stock tranny if my choice was 3906 tranny vs revo tranny. That is just me.. some still did that mod as well.
quick question.
i would like to buy 2 3905 diffs for my revo project but in the description it says they will not fit a revo?!?!?!?
http://cgi.ebay.com/New-Traxxas-Wate...QQcmdZViewItem
and you said they will. can you do the mod so i can see if they fit? thanks!

Perhaps he's referring to the assembly as a whole and not just the gears.

From looking at the eBay pic, the outer case of the diff won't fit the Revo case, but the inner cup, ring, and pinion gears should work just fine in a Revo diff case...

The emaxx 3905 diffs are a drop in upgrade to the revo, not really a "mod" Yes they look a little different, but they drop right in. That ring on the front used in the emaxx application just goes into the old tool box, that is about as much 'modding' as you have to do. You could swap out parts if you wanted though.. that is easy enough as well, but it still is cheaper to buy the ebay full diff's than the retail parts that are different to upgrade.
