battery Protection?

Hey Guys,
I'm looking to get some lipos for the e-revo now, but I want to make certain they are well protected from harms way and crashes while on the truck.

This is only a track truck, and I'd prefer to keep the chassis I currently run, at least for a little while, I was thinking just some like C channel on the sides?

I know alot of lipos are out now, anyone prefer one type over the others due to strength and safety?





I'd like to get a123's but I need 45 minute runtimes. I'm running the Feigao 8xl and Warrior 9920.

Normally 14 cells.

Id reccomend 2 Trakpower Lipos. They have a hard plastic case so they are safe, imo they are safer than nimh :)

45 minute runtimes? I think you might could squeeze 45mins out of 8000mAh Maxamps Lipos. How do you hit that kind of runtime with NiMh's? I assume you have to change them out mid run?

If you could live with less runtime, I highly suggest Trakpower Lipos, especially from the standpoint of being able to take abuse.

I don't get anywhere close to that runtime, which is why I want to go lipo...

How much run time are you get right now with the nimh packs? Also, what keeps your packs held in place?

If you want tough, you might want to consider the A123 cells. Lipos, even the ones in cases, are still relatively easy to damage.

I run all of my lipos in either aluminum or carbon fiber trays that leave nothing exposed but the top of the battery. I also got some foam padding to put into the front of the battery trays to add some protection in case of a frontal impact. I then use velcro on the packs and a strong nylon strap to hold the packs in the trays. I race and bash really hard and destroyed a few lipo packs trying to find a system that wouldn't let go of the batteries in a hard crash.

Oh I c... I thought the ties was to hold the wires, didn't notice until now that the wires are on the inside of the shrink wrap.

It may be me, but I think the zip ties are just temporary... unless they seem to be working out for you.

Guys, why it seems that the revo is two times wider than the maxx?

Are the arms really wider?

Or is it because the batteries are mounted vertically?

Do you think you could mount up another 90 degree angle on the outside of the holder. Or ever better replace the 90 you have now with an U-Channel. Just be sure to get one wide enough to fit the li-po in. And if you really want to go all out, get a wide one and then pad it with foam.
