NEU end bell cover - 01.05.2008, 03:56 AM

I know it says fits the 15 series motor;s, but I just want to be sure Does it fit the 1509?

And what should I do to seal the front? Because I will run in sand (pretty much every time I go out, I run on a sand hill...) And my orion can really fill up with sand, but the different is 3 times the price and it doesnt affect it, I just need to blow it out after every run

Any ideas?

I think the front and rear covers together will just about cover it.

I has just saw the front cover after I posted this lol, looks good to me

I emailed Mike to see what all this will cost, and I am going to get a finned 1509 (Its a NEU, it has to be finned!)

I don't think the front cover seal them. I use electrical tape over the 4 holes and when the motor is mount on the motor mount, the tape seal it very well.

the front cover works well in general, but it does leave 2 of the 3mm mounting screw holes open the same as any other brushless motor when you mount it using only 2 of the 4 mounting holes. Other than that it completely covers the front of the motor.

I can't decide if its more fun

I guess anything will be better then nothing there, for 12 bucks, it seems cheap compared to the 200 dollar motor....

Thanks guys =)

I use the front and rear covers on some of my motors, but I have another Neu motor that I have been using for a long time with no covers at all and I havent ever had an issue. I can see that the covers sure cant hurt, but they really arent that big of a deal IMO.

Im sure there not, my orion is sensored and if the sensors get dirty, it will do weird things, so I have to clean it out every 2 or so months..... But I know one guy who races off road with his orion, and he just blows it out, thats it.....

I just dont want anything weird to happen during a race....

I dont know what it would damage, especially since im not in water, just dry sand

Offshore electrics has the 1509/1y in the smooth can right now if thats the wind you were looking for.

I use the front and rear covers on my 1506 and they seem to do the trick - but I don't drive in sand either. Also do your shrink and your plugs after you put on the rear cover.. I had mine on before I had the cover and of course they didn't fit through.

I know of a few places that have them, but there all smooth can, and since im ordering the front and rear covers from Mike, I might as well order a motor

I hope I dont fry a motor because of sand, that would stink

I used aluminum heating tape for the front, that tape can handle up to 300F. As they said, when you put the motor on the mount, the tape works good.
