The number of poles had nothing to do with the MM issue, it was with slotted stators. Don't know if other motor types were affected...

lol, no idea. Since I'm not running a slotted stator motor, I'm gonna wait to see what problems other people have with the update before I do so.

great to see they finally got an update for slotted motors. I will wait a little though to see how it works out for people running the neu motors.

Just got back in from a quick bash-type run with my Hyper 8: MM Neu 1512/2.5D, 4s Lipo, 4 extra 35v 3300uf low ESR caps, geared for ~35mph (14/46). In all honesty, I just about couldn't get it to cog with the new software. From stop to any throttle position, the MM got it right every time. I then pushed the MM backwards to ~5mph, and grabbed a lot of forward throttle. About 80% of the time the MM stopped the buggy quickly, and shot it forward without anything I'd call cogging. The other 20% was only minor cogging, but was still MUCH better than the previous software version.
This run was done WITHOUT a heatsink (it popped off last night), and after roughly 4mins of some rough bashing on grass the top FETs were maybe 90 deg. F, with ambient being about 60 deg. F.
Too bad for Quark, I strongly believe the MM is now extremely capable of running Neu motors (and I thought it was prior to the update).
If the front axle on my crawler weren't broken, I would comment on how the Mamba 25 runs an outrunner compared to before.

Well I just tried 6s2p A123 - 20.2V on the batteries and it armed fine.
This was on a brand new MM - I ran it in the basement for a few mins and seemed fine.
Don't think I'd trust it but wanted to see if it would arm. It did!

I ran mine with 6s1p A123 this past Sunday. It works for a few seconds before it shut down, which is enough for the 132 feet dragrace.

That's impressive. I wouldn't mind running an MM on 5s A123 in a savage until the MMM came out. Was that a fully charged A123 pack. I'm confused with A123 voltages.

I have to yet to run one after the firmware update, not that it matters (I have Lehners).
I wonder if they will run these even more smoothly - possibly eliminate the once in a blue moon off the line stutter?

I updated the MM in my crawler and threw the AXI outrunner back in. I had taken it out and replaced it with a hand wound 55t due to the fact that if I stopped on a hill, and it rolled back, it would not start back up until it came to a stop. Also it would sometimes cog if I punched it from a standstill. After the update, it seems to always start perfect, even when rolling backwards down a hill. I'll leave the outrunner in for a while and see how it goes. I'd forgotten what real power was like The 55t was very smooth, but pretty weak.

i just updated both MM's on my super (they're attached to outrunners), and i can tell a BIG improvement in smoothness. they didn't cog before and i thought they were smooth prior to the update, but now they're baby's butt smooth!
every noise from the MM does seem louder though.

how funny would that be... if castle came out with another firmware update where the controllers would make artificial weed wacker noises when the throttle is used...
