Are the temps on the motor still high? I don't know if I want to go for the same motor as you or find an alternative as I may do some racing (just for fun, I know taking the CD out isnt the best option for racing) and want a reliable setup.

If I made a fan for the end of the motor would it reduce the temps considerably?

I havent run the car yet, im waiting for some screws to come in along with my front center dogbone, a fan on the motor will help alot, its really reliable, wayy less moving parts

By reliable I ment keeping the temps down

Anyone have any opinions on this motor? http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...idProduct=6231
It seems narrower but longer and has a better kv rating. Forgetting the difference in kv would there be any difference in power between that 42-60C and the 55-50B? Does the extra length of the 42-60 make up for the lack of width?

One more question, I will be running slightly higher voltage, (6s1p A123 - 19.8v) will this make the motor run cooler or hotter?

Thanks

why not just go with the 400 kv 50-55b... mine is 600kv. i think u need a wider, shorter can for a car, more torque and less speed

Ahhh Crap..... the car has officialy taken its first beating...
Something in the rear diff went.... im hoping its the spur gear....
I tried to go 4wd but the stupid warhead shaft is just too short...... :(

then enraged after the diff ticking, i was just driving around, made 1, only one speed pass and the freakin foam flies out of the rear tire!!!!! but where it came out is a different storry.. RIGHT OUT THE MIDDLE OF THE TIRE!!!!

I did a No-no... i finalllyyyy got the car 4wd and working and disregarded the rear diff ticking.... well now both pinions are gone... i can roll the car and the motor not spin.....:(

Im hoping i can get some from a freind..

I got a video of the broken gears

The car realllllly doesnt like jumping with standard gears...hopefully with some advice from you brushless addicts i can get the next set shimmed right

Well Adding onto the previous post, i found out i did not lose the front diff, the setscrew on the front center dogbone came loose. As for the rear diff..... its not so good, it got grenadedm both the ring and pinion are toast, 6 out of 13 teeth are broken off the pinion aand 4 teeth are off the ring..

definately getting steel gears this time...

Well guys i think i did it, i put in new rear gears, the ring gear had a slight grind cus it was not perfectly made but the gears broke themselves in and the grind went away, i came in about 7 mins into the run and tweaked the mm, had to turn the puch control onto 100% to keep my moabs in tact... at the same time turning the timing from 0 degrees to 10 made the world of difference. i wonder what it would do on 20, maybe for a pass or two.... Well My robotics mentor doesnt believe that rc's can go over 25mph....let alone 45, so i gotta show them wrong... :D

Well one fan is dead, it wasnt on the Servo tape quite tight enuff so that came face to face with the rotating endbell of the motor, needless to say the fan lost that battle
