I use the same temp. gauge and I havent had any problems. I use 77E for everything but note that the batteries will be slightly higher than what the guage says unless you are running nimhs.

Use any one of these for temp reading, I’ve never mounted in anything, I just bring the truck in and point the beam at what I want read, Battery, esc & motor one temp gun does it all..

I think the Raytek MT4 is a really great one. All the maintenance guys here at work have them for troubleshooting HVAC issues.

Why Impakt RC is asking $75 when amazon wants $41 is beyond me though.

I use the Raytek too and love it. You can get them on Ebay brand new for around 35. Suppose to be one of the better temp guns.

I actually use the FlashPoint myself, but have been checking out the Raytek for a while now.

Just checked the E setting on mine and it was set for the default 95E.

I brought up the manual and it says 77E for Anodized Aluminum.

Does that mean that all of the motor temperature readings I have been taking for batteries are pretty accurate, but the motor and ESC temps I've been reading at 95E have been lower than what the reading has been saying?

Yeah - I temped my Neu at room temperature at both 77E and 95E and the temps were:

95E - 77.0*
77E - 76.4*

I might give it a try when running just to see if there is more of a discrepancy at higher temps when the motor is really pumping out some heat.

I have the flashpoint. At high temperatures the default setting is very inaccurate for aluminum. My smooth can feigao would read 90F on the can while about 150-160 right where the wires came out. I also measured the temps of my aluminum pots that contained boiling water and the outsides read about 95F. Other than that, the readings are very accurate for nonshiny surfaces.
