Question 5s or 6s on the 1515 2.5d???? - 06.21.2008, 10:41 AM

OK now that i keep my brushless stuff, i want to know what's is the best.
I've a Neu 1515 2.5d on order to put in my Mugen truggy. I want to know if i'am better to put it on 6s, spin it at 36630rpm and gear it with a 14T pinion to have a top speed of about 42m/h or i'am better to put it on 5s, spin it at 30525rpm and gear it with a 17T pinion to reach about the same speed.

Personaly, i thnk that put it on 6s and gear it down will place less load on the motor and draw less curent than on 5s with a bigger pinion, but i want to have your comments please before to order my pack.

I know that i ask lot of question, but i want to make the right choice, because a li-po in the $300.00 ++ it's o lot of money, so i want to choose the right one.

Ho! forgot to tell you that i'll make race only 95% of the time, and the other 5% will be yard bashing

Thank you

David

I was thinking of going with the MGM 9032 or 16018 untill Patrick from CC has posted on the forum that he has a design in the works for a 8s and 12s contollers that will sell for $275 and $375 depending on the amounts of FETs...I was liking what he had to say about those

You'll probably have to wait a year or two.
Take an MGM 9032 or a 12024.
Or a CC HV110

IMO 6s on the 2.5D is perfect. Great power and everything runs cool, even in my heavy Muggy with large heavy tires.

I am happy with my present setup so I have all the time in the world to wait...but those are some nice options I really wasnt thinking of the CC HV-110....Hmmm...since I dont use reverse and I run in wide open areas braking really isnt much of an issue ....I will have to rethink that.....thanx for making the decision harder....lol

that's always like that in this marvellous world of r/c, the decision is always hard to take.
