What exactly happened to them?

It's too bad. They had one of the smoothest ESCs I've used. They did have some disadvantages, but what ESC doesn't...

does the smoothness come from the brain board or the power board?

Firmware mostly. The 125B had the same number/type of FETs as the older MM, but until the new CC firmware came out, the Quark handled slotted stator motors MUCH better.

Their Korean address was posted somewhere in these forums back in June when they started being missed. I have it if you need it, but I'd start with the email. I've seen several threads and they are still warranting as they did when they were in US - just have international mail to wait for now.

not to put a downer on things
but i had mine 4 months and used it probably about 12/15 times when it whent up in smoke
i emailed joe told him how long i had owned it and what happened to it and where i got it from
and all i got was it was out of waranty and that they wouldnt even look at it
and from then on he ignored my emails

.................now thats customer service or what...............................
