.....Why are my tires spinning the wrong way? -
10.24.2008, 07:56 PM
Well, after I guess... stripping my rear diff, I purchased a new 16.8 EMaxx diff, off eBay...
After a couple hours of wrenching (never went this deep in the maxx, replacing something, so taking things apart was new....) I finally replaced it, my CVDs, everything..
Of course, nothing goes according to plan for me..
Today, I take it into my front yard, for some test bashing?
Anyways, I plug it in on my porch..... I lift it up (I check the trim, and everything upside down, so it does take off, and break my leg, and a door... )
Anywho, when I push forward, the front end goes forward, while the rear end goes backward... Needless to say, the maxx goes NOWHERE.
Could it just be a case of reversing a motor? Or did I put a front diff in the rear, if possible?
****Well, on a couple other forums, I received a answer on a couple other forums, would the problem be that the diff is flipped the wrong way?

Flip your rear diff. That's your problem with the front and rear wheels spinning opposite of each other.

It used to take me ages, then I read a thread where lincpimp showed a fast way to do it- I think it was shock tower, chassis plate and bulks but all only on one side, plus the shafts of course. Really sped things up for me...

I think its one of the rituals one must experience if you are truely commited to the hobby. Lesser individuals will quiverin fear and give up, but the rest of us....well, we debate KV's, C ratings, and pray nightly for our MMM's......

Yeah, getting a maxx diff out is pretty easy. Just remove one bulkhead. So 2 screws in the shock tower, 2 screws on the bumper mount, 2 screws where the chassis mounts, and 2 screws on the skidplate. I usually remove the center driveshaft pin, and the 2 driveshaft pins before any other screws. A clean truck helps too!

I can say that I've never flipped the diffs - well, actually once, but I flipped them both. Lukily all I had to do was swap two motor wires.
My achilles heel seems to be heatshrink. I am forever forgetting to put the piece on BEFORE soldering the wire to the deans.

I've heavily relied on electrical tape for this same reason.
The answer is no. And yes, mine is faster.

Ooooh I HATE that! "Think twice, solder once" is a rule I try to follow- but that f*&%$%*ing heatshrink tube is just a-sittin' there looking at me after the joint is solid....

That's one of the good things about bullet plugs, you can always put the heatshrink on later .

I sometimes do that... Unscrew whatevers in my way? :D
Anywho, took probably 30 minutes this time!
Boy, am I happy!
Anywho, got a new problem!
